It was the same old speech just reworded and reworked, it held the same determination and steadfast loyal ring that it always had held to it when Ed spoke about it.
Mustang said nothing, he just watched the blonde go knowing somewhere deep inside that Ed would come back. Ed always came back, and that was the irony of the situation right now he was being noncomplanat as usual but later this evening when the blonde alchemist came crawling back into his office things would come clean again. But than maybe it necessarily wouldn't happen tonight, Ed did have a stubborn streak so it could occur now or anywhere from three days to a week from now. Whenever the day, Roy was sure of one thing, Ed would come back willingly and not only never admit his mistake but actually freely cooperate with him. It was a symbiotic relationship really, one where one depended on the other for success. Due to these issues they needed one another to succeed, and the only way that that would happen was if they both got what they wanted. Ed would leave for now, but Roy knew he would be back later.
Charcoal eyes now focused once again on the short-mini-skirt clad girl standing in front of him. He took the folders from her hands and set them in front of himself on his desk trying to established some order in the scattered piles of documents and manlia folders. "Thank you." Roy said briefly, but still maintaining his polite arrogant air. It was the same air that never even seemed to abandon him for a second, it was where all his confidence came from. Confidence that measured so much in quantity that it was enough to make any one person sick off of it just by glancing in it's direction.

Riza came into the room and dropped another load of paperwork on the desk. Raising an eyebrow at the girls outfit, she shook her head and faced the Colonel, "Sir, you just need to finish this work and then you will be free to go, so could you focus on this and then we can all go."
Pushing the stack towards him, she returned to her desk and began working on her own stack of paperwork, Black Hayate at her feet sleeping.

Pheonix nodded "you're welcome Colonel" she said and greeted Riza with a smile "good afternoon Lieutenant" she said in a cheerful voice and left the room, humming lightly to herself, she smiled at Ed as she passed him "Hey Edward!" she said brightly.

Edward did come back,he had no choice but to listen to the Colonel. If he didn't it either resulted in being locked in a cell, getting blown up by his flames or some other reason.Walking into the room he noticed that Lieutienant Hawkeye was there,he didn't remember passing her in the hallway or even see her come into the building.
"Don't think I came back just because I have to listen,I don't have anything better to do right now is all.Lieutienant Hawkeye it's nice to see you again, maybe you could tell old Colonel hot head here to lighten up abit".
He noticed the other girl was still here, but didn't say anything.

She smiled at the youth, "It is good to see you to Edward. Your brother's not with you?? Thats a surprise, and it seems I don't have to tell the Colonel to lighten up... you seem to do it when ever you're here yourself."
Her eyes flickered from the Colonel back to Edward, shaking her head, she returned to her work.

Roy's eyes narrowed a little bit when another pile of paperwork was so generously added to the pile on his desk. The dull thud of papers added to the pile seemed to ring out unceremoniously as the office had gotten rather quiet when Hawkeye had entered it. Mustang just nodded at her remark as he moved the paperwork aside placing it with the other pile that needed to be finished tonight. Maybe he would get out of here soon if everyone started to leave his office so that he could do work.
Roy than turned to the office girl, seemingly bored with her already, the short-skirt only went so far since there was paperwork to be done and than there was still the subject of Fullmetal. Roy gave her a wave of dismissal, trying to stop his office from becoming the place to mingle for the next fifteen minutes. But nevertheless everyone seemed to be sticking around, as Roy lazily leaned back in his chair staring absent-mindedly at the paperwork piles and Edward's report. Several minutes later the inevitable happened - Edward Elric came back trudging into his office. With Ed's reentry Roy couldn't help but smirk, he had known that this would happen and now he would get what he had asked for earlier - a debrief of Ed's report. "So nice of you to come and join me Fullmetal." Roy's tone of voice was full of sarcasm, but the glint in his eyes was an unmistakably devious one.
Roy raised an eyebrow at Ed's comment and gave him a look that seemed to hold some humor within it. "Fullmetal I suggest you refrain from making such comments in my presence." Roy reminded him, but what he was really saying was 'I still have some power over you.' He gave Ed a charming grin that seemed more like a mocking one before he turned back to his paperwork. "Now once everyone clears out of here, you can give me your report orally." Mustang added as an afterthought.

Ed took a step back, what was with that look which made him want to cringe. It seemed he wasn't going to be let off easily, why did he have to tell the Colonel what was written in the report anyways couldn't he just go over it himself.Turning his golden gaze to Lieutienant Hawkeye he sighed,it was true he had come here on his own and without Alphonse.
"I came here on my own accord Lieutienant Hawkeye,I didn't see a reason to drag my brother along with me.And I still don't see why I have to explain my report, you can just as easily open up the folder and read it yourself or do you just enjoy lecturing me that much".
His eyes went back to the Colonel, what was wrong didn't like he like the smug remark given to him.He didn't have time to play around, but the look crept back to him sending a chill up his spine. As a state alchemist and a holder of one of the pocket watches,as much as he hated it Roy did have some power over him.

"Just humor the Colonel, Edward. You won't be allowed to leave until you explain your report to him anyway. Not only that but it saves the Colonel some time on paperwork, so go ahead."
The Lt. looked up from the pile of papers she had just completed in the time they had been talking. She offered a small smile to the young boy before returning to her stone faced expression.

"I didn't ask you for your opinion Fullmetal, now your verbal report please." Roy repeated, his voice had reached a level of steady calm now. Roy had figured out that the odds were in his favor, obviously Hawkeye would follow suit and help him in his attempts to get Edward to report to him. If Hawkeye was on his side, how could he lose?
Strumming his fingers impatiently on the desktop Roy stared in Ed's direction waiting for the short blond to start reciting his report. Roy already knew all the details perfectly, he had them down to their very letter struck and memorized in his head. He had various ways of gaining information, and all of them were very reliable and accurate sources. If there weren't top secret clearances above his single security clearance than maybe he would have known everything in the military if possible because Roy made a point to keep himself informed about things. An informed person could make accurately calculated informed decisions. Without knowing all the factors the situation could easily fall out of his hands. Right now this was part of his strategy, having Ed report to him would clear up any minor details that he had missed before. In addition to that it also always pissed Ed off, and there was nothing Roy enjoyed more than seeing the short blond alchemist stand and deliver in front of him with an even shorter fuse. It was almost a ridiculous situation, but it was one that Roy always loved constructing, he would do anything to tick Ed off for a moment.
Since Hawkeye is on my side I cannot lose!
Roy allowed his thoughts to wander as the signature smirk crept across his lips. His eyes and expression both held an expectant air, if Ed didn't speak up soon he might be in danger of catching on fire, Roy decided to himself.

"Fine i'll give you my full report sir,I went to the town to get leads on the stone.I was close to getting some answers when they showed up,the homunculi and you know how it goes with those bastards.Almost five innocent people died,I couldn't let that happen....they just seem to follow me".
He was getting pretty annoyed with those sins, all they ever chased him for was to make a stone.Every town almost they we're in,watching him from the shadows like bloodhounds wanting to track him like a injured fox.The source he wanted to find out the stone from, well Lust had gotten him before he did.
"The source I found was killed,Lust killed him before I could stop her.Is that what you wanted to hear, because that's my full report.I found nothing on the stone, and got five innocent people involved and yes i'm aware they almost died so anything else you want to know Colonel".
Edward diverted his gaze to the ground, balling his hand into a fist.

Riza allowed a small amused smile to cross her face at the smug expression on the Colonel's face. Her eyes flickered across his face to his eyes, also proving that he felt reassured that he had won. Letting her expression turn back to its usual blank, expressionless look.
She watched Edward explain to the Colonel, his report and noticed that the youth was starting to look agitated. Turning her eyes back to the Colonel, she sighed, sometimes his stubbornness left him blind to other things.
"Colonel, Sir, if I may speak," without waiting for his permission she continued, "I think Edward has said enough about his report, you might be pushing you power just a bit, if I may be so bold."
Looking back down at her papers she signed the last of her papers and stood, gathering all the papers into one neat pile. Walking up to the Colonel's desk she gave him a pointed look and then asked, "Have you finished all your paperwork?? If you have I will bring yours with mine to the main office and leave you to talk with Edward."

It was common knowledge that any type of wetstuf, water in particular, did not agree with Colonel Roy Mustang, the Flame Alchemist.
That was probably why Second Lieutenant Jean Havoc had left for a break as soon as First Lieutenant Riza Hawkeye was out of the area.
But, alas, one could only stay on break for so long before being caught. So here Jean was again, heading right towards the Colonel's office with a small stack of paper stuck under his arm.
What? It wasn't like he WANTED to bring more paperwork to the already peeved superior officer. Some one had just shoved them into his arms, knowing he was with Roy, and told him to take them over to the Colonel.
Upon reaching the door, Jean didn't bother to knock. Well, he did, but that was after already opening the door. Defeating the purpose? Maybe so...
"Hey, Boss, more paperwork for you..."
He raised an eyebrow at the sight of Edward before giving a small nod. "Hey there, Chief. Turning in a report?" he questioned through the usual cigarette in-between his teeth, the question more retorical. Hey, even he was smart enough to tell when a person was not in the mood for idle chit-chat.

"I've given my full report Mustang,if you'll excuse me i'll take my leave now".
Turning to leave Edward quirked a brow at Havoc,oh joy more paperwork to make the Colonel happy well he wasn't going to stay around and see sparks fly.Giving a grin to Havoc,he walked past the man and back out into the hallway going to find Alphonse....now where did he leave that tin can again.
"Pssst Nii-san over here, did the Colonel give you a lecture again or can we finally go now".
Alphonse had been waiting near a wall, there was some boxes pushed near the back as well and came to greet his brother.Al usually went with him,but thought Edward could handle this one his own without getting fryed by Mustang.
"Yeah you know the usual, come on Alphonse let's head out before Mustang decides to lecture me somemore.Stupid "dog of the military" title,i'll show him who's on a tight leash".
He then left.

][My apologies that it took me so long to reply here, I'm bogged down with work again >>;][
The Colonel listened only momentarily to Edward's verbal report because it was short, it was obvious that he wanted to get out of here. "Yes, I want to know if it could have been prevented Fullmetal." Roy replied sarcastically as he swung back and forth in his desk chair. He looked disinterested in the topic but that didn't stop him from asking.
Mustang cleared his throat loudly, Hawkeye always had a way to feign some sort of power over him, even in front of others. It was a commonly known fact that she was the only one able to get him to finish his paperwork and that was through force. Without her he would just sit around and do absolutely nothing. "You're dismissed Fullemtal." Roy said sharply, obviously the rain was egging on his bad temper today. The drops tapping the window had only increased in size and magnitude since everyone had started to use his office as a revolving door. "This is done." Mustang added addressing Hawkeye and motioning towards a pile that wasn't very large at all. The 'IN' pile now towered over the 'OUT' pile because Mustang had been tied up with talking to Edward.
"Don't you knock." Mustang scowled seeing the stack of paperwork in Havoc's hands. Mustang watched the paperwork move across the room in Havoc's hands waiting for the moment that it was dropped onto his desk. Before that he grabbed a fresh few sheets and started to sign them. This was by far the worst part of his job, he would attest to that anyday. Roy moved quickly emptying a few more papers into the 'OUT' pile, he was now trying to attempt to finish something for tonight. Maybe Hawkeye would let him go before the night was over, even if he didn't finish all his paperwork. It would be a miracle if he even got out of here on time with all the interruptions that he was experiancing.
Roy signed a few more sheets of paper, than the phone rang. The loud annoying buzz echoed throughout the now noisy room. Mustang twitched before picking up the receiver sharply.
Damn paperwork and HQ to Hell.
He thought to himself as he barked a quick 'Hello' into the telephone. His tone immediately changed though when he realized who was on the line. It was the girl of the evening for tonight's date.
"Oh, yes, of course I remember." Roy replied sweetly, his tone had suddenly gone so sweet it was sickening. "I will be there." Mustang added. "7 o'clock sharp." He smirked to himself before hanging up the phone. Roy slammed the receiver down as if daring anyone in the room to mention something about the phone call. Turning back to his paperwork he seemd to attack the pile with a new enthusiasm.
