Name: Ethan Robert Rouge
Age: 22
Chimera: Moon Moth
Appearance: Ethan has short, pale blonde hair (when he's not bald) and hazel eyes that are often more green than brown. He stands about six-foot-one and both of his arms are auto-mail. His skin bears the faint pattern of a moth’s wings; lighter towards his head and legs and more prominent on his torso. His build is some-what athletic, but he’s more gangly than anything else. All else such as the auto-mail put aside, he would normally lose easily in a brawl of might. His movements are generally graceful and lingering. He can commonly be found wearing faded and worn jeans with a camouflage pattern and a black wife-beater, and rarely much more—in other words, he retains his look of a troubled youth.
Background: Ethan was born and raised in Dublith. When he was younger, he was extremely outspoken and bold, often standing up to those elder and larger than himself, proudly showing off the bruises as proof of his deeds. His parents didn’t worry about him too much at this time, as they figured it was a stage all boys his age went through. As he grew older and his body changed, he found that he wasn’t suited to fighting as he had been in the past and slowly became more and more reserved and increasingly studious. He retained much of his attitude and often got himself into situations he couldn’t get out of unscathed and still sports many of the scars from the beatings he took from other boys. At this point, his parents weren’t entirely sure what to think of him.
By the time he was 17, he had a reputation with the other teens his age of a ‘bad boy’ due to the people he ran with and the various criminal activities he took part in. He was mostly talk and little action at this point; naïve as to where this would land him in time. During one of his gang’s frequent late-night/early-morning vandalisms in the train yards, Ethan made a jesting comment in passing he shouldn’t have that offended the others and promptly had his arms tied down to the tracks. He was left there until a train went by, severing both his arms just below the shoulders, narrowly missing his head. To this day, he still occasionally has nightmares of the incident.
Ethan was sent to the hospital immediately when he was found, on death’s door from the blood loss. The police that investigated the scene after he was hospitalized questioned him why he had been in the train yard in the first place, suspecting him of the vandalism done to the cars and fences. It was then that the military stepped in and equipped him with auto-mail, telling his parents they had a program for troubled youths such as himself and took him away to be ‘reformed.’ He was placed into the experiments in Lab 5 and eventually merged with a moon moth. It was then that he met up with Vulch. Ethan had been part of a group his entire life, and it was his friendship with this other chimera that kept him sane throughout the numerous experimentations done to them. It was somewhere in these years that he lost the fire that had dictated his former life and became the stoic young man he was when he joined Greed’s gang after being freed from the laboratory.
Other Notes: Due to the moth part of him, Ethan is easily distracted by bright lights and fires, especially at night, and strongly-scented flowers. Though his quiet nature keeps the topic in the debatable category, Ethan is bisexual.
This is a character from the FMA manga, seen in volume 7, chapter 27, pages 77-80. I took him on as a character on my other RPG site, linked as my homepage, so I've a good deal of experience with him. There are some renditions of him on my DeviantArt account, linked below. If there is something you would like me to change about him, please let me know.
